Youth Training at LTSC

At LTSC we aim to provide a pathway from being a beginner, new to sailing, all the way through to competing in club racing and beyond. This is done though a combination of regular weekly sessions at the club and specialised courses.

We run Junior Sailing Camps throughout the year at half term and during school holidays. These are a full week of activities from Monday to Friday, starting at 9am until 3pm. Designed to improve the skill level of existing sailors and also to build confidence for beginners using the RYA syllabus with a focus on fun!

Junior Sailing Camps are for kids aged 7 years +

Please call the office on 01590 674514 for any enquiries.

Private tuition available at training_ltsc.co.uk.jpg

Salterns Sailing

Salterns Sailing Club, on the nearby marshes, provides the ideal setting to introduce children to sailing. We work with this club to create a progression from this early training into the wider world.

River Sailing

2020   courses are yet to be announced

On Saturday morning the children that have already learnt the basics of sailing at the Salterns come and sail on the river.

The children sail RS Fevas and Teras specifically bought by the Club for this purpose. The group launch together from the slipway and find a quiet area tucked in to the side of the river where the club launch ‘Fortuna ‘ is usually anchored to act as mothership.

Parents, often trained at the Club in the RYA method of teaching, crew safety boats and assist greatly with teaching and running the sessions.

Advanced River Sailing Group

This group, which started in 2020, sail on Saturday afternoons and are the more experienced and generally older children. They are a small group that have their own coach looking after them.

The group all sail at the same time and in the same waters as ‘Saturday Sailing’ on the river and the Solent. This allows the children to improve their skills and gently integrate into the mainstream Club sailing activities.
